Abstract
A method is described for the determination of ~(233)U in hydrochloric acid solu--tion by an extraction--liquid scintillation counting technique. After comparison, a suitable scintillation solution is selected. The quenching effect of various acids onα--counting is investigated; Interference of non--radioactive impurities on countingis discussed. The method is selective, accurate and convenient. Counting efficiencyis about 100%. When the sample volume is above 0.5 ml with a counting rate ofover 2×10~3 cpm (0.1μg~(233)U), the method can. provide a precision of about±1%.It can be used in routine analysis of α--emitters.
