THE DISSOLUTION OF UO_2-Mg FUEL ELEMENTS WITH Al CLADDING
The Al cladding is dissolved in a mixture of NaOH--NaNO_3 solutions. Afterdeclading, the UO_2--Mg fuel core is dissolved in HNO_3 solution. The effects ofHNO_3 concentration and temperature on the dissolution rate are investigated. Thepeak values of the hydrogen gas evolution during the dissolution process aredetermined.
