SILVERHALIDES DETECTORS AND SOME CHARACTERISTICS

  • Some characteristics of Cd-doped monocrystalline sheets of silverhalidesare briefly described. As a low temperature crystal detector, for ~(241)Am alphasource, the resolution of 17% is obtained. With silverhalides being solid electro-lyte, only Ag ions contribute to the output signal and the polarization is notable. In liquid nitrogen bath, the conductivities of AgBr and AgCl sheets become con-trollable within several orders of magnitude, which is determined by the initialcurrent density under decomposition caused by the applied bias at room tempera-ture.
