SHADOW SHIELD METHOD ON γ RADIATION EXPOSURE RATE CALIBRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL RADIATION INSTRUMENT

  • The procedure of shadow shield method is summerized. γ back scatteringfrom the shadow part of the end wall near a calibrated meter is estimated. Thevalue is about 0.1~1% when the calibrated instrument is placed 1.5m from theend wall. The impacts on overshield and undershield are determined experimentallyand other factors in the methord are discussed as well.
