SELECTION OF MATERIALS FOR THE REMOVAL OF VOLATILE Ru FROM VITRIFICATION OFF-GAS OF HIGH-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTES

  • Ruthenium is rather volatile in the process of glass-solidification of high-levelliquid radioactive wastes, so it is very important to remove ruthenium from off-gas treatment system. In this work, materials such as KSG-1 non-decrepitation silicagel and W-X-14artificials ferric oxide are selected to study the factors of effective removal ofruthenium, such as characters of volatile ruthenium, temperature of sorptioncolumn, column height, flow rate of off-gases, feed solution concentration, sorption capacity as well as incondensable gases (NO-x, SO-2, etc.). Ru decontamina-tion factors of KSG-1 non-decrepitation silicagel (120℃) and W-X-14 ferric oxide(500℃) are found to be higher than 1×10~4, and can be used to remove volatileruthenium from vitrfication off-gas of high-level radioactive wastes.
