SEPARATION AND DETERMINATION OF PLUTONIUM BY N-235 EXTRACTION CHROMATOGRAPHY

  • The separation of plutonium from uranium, neptunium and americium is proposed by extraction chromatographic technique. N-235 is used as the stationary phase on polytetrafluoroethylene powder. Plutonium is fixed from 2.0 mol·1~(-1) HNO_3 solution. After washing the column with 1.0 mol·1 HNO_2 solution, plutonium is eluted with a nitric-oxalic acid mixture. The recoveries arc 97.1±1.8%.
