THE CROSS SECTION MEASUREMENTS FOR THE ~(179)Hf(n, 2n) ~(178)Hfm~2 and ~(209)Bi (n, 2n) ~(208)Bi REACTIONS

  • The Cross section measurements for the ~(179)Hf (n, 2n) ~(178)Hf~(m2) and ~(209)Bi (n, 2n ) ~(208)Bi reactions usingactivation method are described. The ~(93)Nb (n, 2n) ~(92)Nb~m and ~(27)Al (n, α) ~(24)Na reactions are selected asmonitors respectively. Cross section values of (6.04±0.32)×10~(-31)m~2 at 14. 4 MeV for the ~(179)Hf(n,2n) ~(178)Hf~(m2) and of (2279±173)×10~(-31)m~2 at 14. 6 MeV for the ~(209)Bi (n, 2n ) ~(208)Bi are obtained. Theneutron energies in these measurements are determined by cross-section ratios of ~(90)Zr (n, 2n) ~(89)Zr~(m+8) and~(93)Nb (n, 2n) ~(92)Nb~m reactions.
