  • Ultra low density silica aerogels with 5 kg·m -3 of density are prepared by a sol gel technique using industrial silicon derivatives E 40 (a kind of polyethoxydisiloxanes). The influence of various solution ratios on the gelation process is investigated. The microstructure of the ultra low density silica aerogels is also tested using SEM and BET techniques.
