Abstract

A programmable logic controller (PLC) is employed as the machine local control unit in the prototype kicker modulator. Remote control, safety interlock and real time communication with the host computer are achieved by the PLC. Strong electromagnetic interference, which is caused by the big pulse current in the modulator, is restrained. It makes the operation of the modulator more stable and reliable.
