Study on Behaviour of 1A Mixer-settler for the Spent Fuel Reprocessing of High-enriched Uranium

  • Under the uranium and acidity system for the spent fuel reprocessing of high enriched uranium, the experimental study on processing equipment of critical safety 16 stages complete countercurrent mixer settler is completed. Shape of mixing propeller, speed of agitator, position of mixing propeller, and geometry dimension of mixer settler fitted in operation condition are determined experimentally. The designed complete countercurrent mixer settler can continuously operate in water phase and organic phase under the processing condition of the spent fuel reprocessing for high enriched uranium. The height of liquid surface all are lower than the critical safety limit, 60 mm during the operation of mixer settler. Efficiency of stage is better than 90 %, and the recovery of uranium is greater than 99.9 %.
