Abstract
The hot-pressing sintering experiments of boron carbide powders (3.85 μm) obtained by jet milling were carried out. In addition, the physical properties of hot-pressing sintered B_4C ceramic were studied. The results show that the B_4C ceramic sintered at 2 150 ℃ for 10 min has a relative density of 91.6%. Its ambient temperature Young modulus and Poisson ratio are 292.5 GPa and 0.16, respectively. Beyond 1 000 ℃, as temperature increases, its linear expension coefficient increases but the thermal conductivity decreases, and their average values are 4.42×10~(-6)K~(-1) and 13.2 W/(m·K), respectively.
