  • The crystal and magnetic structure of intermetallic compound with the nominal composition YFe_(10)Si_(2) was studied by neutron powder diffraction at room temperature. The data were analyzed by the Rietveld method. The results show that the sample consists of ThMn_(12)-type YFe_(10.2)Si_(1.8 )and α-Fe(Si). In the YFe_(10.2)Si_(1.8) phase, most of Si atoms occupy the 8f sites, the rest of Si atoms enter the 8j sites and there are no Si (atoms) in the 8i sites.
