  • Atmospheric tracer technology is a essentially experimental technique, in testing and manifesting atmospheric transportation models, investigating the dispersion and transport rule of atmospheric pollutants in a certain region, cross-continents and worldwide, and their dilution mechanism in air, forecasting and evaluating the effects of nuclear and other new energy on atmospheric environment and other fields. In the paper, various features of deuterated methane as well as its preparation and the relative technology is described. Deuterated methane tracer technology is reviewed on such aspects as release, sampling, analysis, and their studying status. The problems which should be treated in this field are pointed out.
