Development of Fuel Element for Research Reactor in Nuclear Power Institute of China

  • In order to prevent nuclear proliferation, the RERTR plan was raised by the Department of Energy (DOE) in 1978 and was affirmed by IAEA. The main project of RERTR is developping a technology to replace high enriched uranium with low enriched uranium for the research/test reactor. The paper describes the progress of the RERTR, a series of work in development and research of the low enriched uranium fuel element, the status of the research and production of U_3Si_2-Al fuel element, and the new progress of the research on UMo alloy fuel in Nuclear Power Institute of China.
