Investigation of Compounds LaNi5Dx(x=0, 0.3) by Means of Neutron Powder Diffraction

  • The structural properties of intermetallic compound LaNi5 and its deuteride LaNi5D0.3 were studied by means of neutron powder diffraction. The data analysis of LaNi5D0.3 deuteride was performed taking into account the anisotropic diffraction line broadening due to microstrain introduced during the hydrogenation dehydrogenation cycles. Therefore, the fit to experimental data is achieved. LaNi5D0.3 is crystallized in the space group P6/mmm as well as LaNi5 and the 12n site is occupied by D atom in it.
