Optically Recording Velocity Interferometer System for Measurement of Equation of State

  • An optically recording velocity interferometer system(ORVIS) is constructed. It is applied to laserdriven shock experiments as a method for equation of state(EOS) measurement. Its best time resolution gets tens of picoseconds. It can measure the velocityof tens of kilometers per second. It is a good tool to measure free surface velocity and particle velocity.
