Abstract
The beam hardening and scattering in 192Ir CT luggage inspection system are simulated using Mont-Carlo method and compared with experimental results. A method is provided to correct the beam hardening and scattering effects to CT reconstructed images. The results of measurement and calculation show that the effect of beam hardening is larger than that of beam scattering in absorber.
