Hydrodynamics Characteristics of 30%TBP-Kerosene/Nitric Acid Solution in Discs and Doughnuts Pulsed Extraction Column

  • The effects of the pulsed amplitude, pulsed frequency, flow velocity and flow ratio and the plate spacing on the hydrodynamics characteristics, such as flooding throughout, flooding-holdup and holdup were studied for 30% TBPkerosene/HNO3 solution in a 100 mm-diameter discs and doughnuts pulsed extraction column. Experimental results show that flooding throughout increases with the decreasing of pulsation intensity and is independent of flow ratio and plate spacing; the effects of operation parameter and plate spacing on flooding-holdup can be neglected; the holdup is in proportion to the flow rate of the continuous phase and the flow ratio, and increases with the increasing of pulsed amplitude and plate spacing. Based on the presented data, empirical correlations for flooding throughout and the holdup are given.
