Load Analysis and Stress Evaluation for Irradiation Surveillance Capsules and Supporting Structures in C-1 Modified Project

  • Some irradiation surveillance capsules (ISCs) welded assemblies and supporting structures were found to be worn seriously between the alignment keys of ISCs and the slots of the hangers. Modified ISCs and supporting structures were designed, and it is necessary to perform load analysis and stress evaluation for their integrity throughout the remained service life of the plant. Loads applying to the structures were analyzed. Then, stress and fatigue analysis were carried. According to ASME codes, stress evaluations under various service limits were performed.
