Development and Validation for Fusion-Fission Hybrid Reactor Codes

  • A coupling burnup code MOCouple-s suitable for advanced reactor design was developed using MCNP and Origen-s in the SCALE5.1 system against the time-consuming disadvantage of MONK9A used in the fusion-fission hybrid reactor design research. Validations of MOCouple-s were made using a PWR burn-up benchmark and the ADS neutronic benchmark. It is concluded that the results of MOCouple-s on reactivity and isotopic compositions are in good agreement with those from the measurement and calculations done by other codes. Moreover, MOCouple-s is superior to other similar codes on precision, parameter setting and the roboticized calculation. The applicability of MONK9A for the fusion-fission hybrid reactor was verified with MOCouple-s. No big differences between the results were proved that the calculation by MONK9A for the preliminary design research on fusion-fission hybrid reactor is reliable.
