Study of Magnetic Vortex Damper Used by Control-Rod System of High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor

  • As less damping caused by the helium gas atmosphere, the magnetic vortex damper is chosen to damp down the falling speed of the control-rod to reduce the shock applied to the drive mechanism located in the small space during the emergency shutdown. This paper introduces the practical applications of the magnetic vortex damper in the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor, focusing both the computational and experimental design methods in the recent study.
