Experimental Research of Fast Proton Generation From Ultrashort Intense Laser Interaction With Al Foil Target

  • The generation of fast protons from 5 μm-thick aluminum foil targets by 120 fs laser irradiation at 6×1016W/cm2 was experimentally researched. A Thomson mass spectrometer was designed and manufactured to measure fast protons. The maximum proton energy is 180 keV. The proton energy spectrum was also obtained. The spread of emission angle of protons is 38°.
