Steady-State Behavior of Passive Residual Heat Removal System

  • One design of secondary-side passive residual heat removal system (PRHRS) was presented based on the prototype of AP1000 primary system. The RELAP5/MOD3.2 code was used to simulate and analyze the steady-state behaviors of the PRHR in normal operating conditions and operating transient. The results show that secondary-side PRHR loop is capable of being under standby conditions due to the density difference of hot and cold water and the pressure balance in on-load operating conditions of primary system. In addition, the effect of the height between steam generator and PRHR heat exchanger on steady-state behaviors was analyzed according to the results.
