Abstract
The sphene solid solution was synthesized by solid-state method, with calcium carbonate, silica, titanium dioxide, cerium oxalate and alumina as raw materials. The solid-soluted content of cerium in sphene was researched by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), backscattering scanning electron microscopy (BSE), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and so on. The influence of Al3+ ion introduction to sphene on the solid-soluted content of cerium in sphene solid solution was studied. The results indicate that when introducing Al3+ to sphene as electrovalence compensation, Ce4+ could be well solidified to Ca1-xCexTi1-2xAl2xSiO5, and the solidsoluted content is approximately 12.61%. With no electrovalence compensation, Ce4+ could be solidified to Ca1-2xCexTiSiO5, and the solid-soluted content is approximately 10.98%. The appropriate synthesis temperature of sphene solid solution is 1 260 ℃.
