Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Lubricating-Oil Cooler due to Different Ways of Place

  • Experimental investigation on heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of 68# lubricating-oil in a cooler with integral pin-fin tubes was done in the paper. The heat transfer characteristics were experimentally determined for oil at two different orientations (i.e. vertical, horizontal orientation directions). The cooling water temperature was 24 ℃ and water volume flow rate was 20 m3/h. The oil temperature was 55 ℃ and oil volume flow rate was 6-24 m3/h. The experimental results demonstrate that the different orientations have small effect on the heat transfer characteristics of oil. It is chosen vertical or horizontal orientation directions base space condition in engineering.
