Design of Gas-Filled Detector for 10Be AMS Measurement

  • Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is a powerful tool on many research fields and 10Be is one of the most important isotopes measured by AMS. To meet the requirement of the research project of exposure age and 10Be contents in loess, a gas detector was developed at PKUAMS. With this new detector the measurement efficiency of 10Be ions is about 90% and counting rate can reach 23 s-1 for BeO- current of 1.2 μA from the ion source and for NIST standard samples.
