Cutting Test of Tritium-Contaminated Metals

  • Aluminum cutting machine and angle grinder were applied to cut the non-sealed and the sealed tritium-contaminated metals. To evaluate the tritium releasing rates, the releasing activity in the cutting process and the left activity in the metals were measured. The experimental results show that for the non-sealed and the sealed tritium-contaminated metals, the releasing rates are ≤15% and ≤1.5% with aluminum cutting machine, and≤25% and ≤1.5% with angle grinder respectively.
