EDXRF Based On-Line Analysis System and Its Applications in Grade Analysis of Ti and Fe Ore Concentrates

  • The efficiency of titanium and iron contents analysis is the key to the productivity of titanium and iron ore concentrate. Since energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence technique has advantages of non-destructive, multi-elemental fast analysis etc., an on-line automatic Ti & Fe grade analysis system based on this technique was developed, which consists of a 238Pu source and a proportional counter. A working curve was established to determine the contents of Fe and Ti in given types of ore concentrates from electrical separation process. A total of 801 tests were carried. The results show that the work rate of this system is 95.38%, and the passing rate is 95.15% when absolute error for total-Ti is less than 0.5%. The system is able to complete an analytical process within 5 minutes, basically satisfying the requirement of real-time monitoring. It is a reliable method for on-line quality control in the production process of titanium and iron ore-concentrates.
