Feasibility Research on Radioisotope Production in China Experimental Fast Reactor

  • China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR) is used not only for all kinds of fuels and materials irradiation, but also as a good platform for production of radioisotopes. Irradiation performance of CEFR was described in this paper. The production and the specific activity of 32P, 33P, 35S, 89Sr, 14C and 60Co were obtained by calculation code. The results show that high purity 32P, 33P and 35S can be obtained in CEFR core, and none carrier 89Sr can be produced by fast neutron (n, p) reaction. Meanwhile, high specific activity 14C and 60Co can be produced in CEFR blanket by setting moderator. It is feasible to product these radioisotopes in CEFR.
