Minimum Response Time Study of Spent Fuel Pool Lost Cooling for Qinshan NPP-2

  • In the case of station blackout accident, the reactor spent fuel pool cooling system had a high risk to break down. In order to avoid the accident without the reactor spent fuel pool cooling going worse, the minimum time from the spent fuel pool lost cooling to the spent fuel assembly exposing was calculated by using the ORIGEN-S code. The calculation results show that the minimum time of the worst case is 79.2 h, and the results are also used to establish the emergency response plan for Qinshan NPP-2.
