Feasibility Analysis of Underground Nuclear Power Plant and Optimization Based on Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis Method

  • The underground nuclear power plant can not only make full use of land resources and reduce costs, but also make better use of its passive safety, as well as avoid the radioactivity release into the atmosphere during the serious nuclear accidents taking place, and therefore improve the safety of the nuclear plant. In order to obtain comprehensive and integrated analysis on this new nuclear power plant design, four different underground nuclear power plant designs were introduced in the paper, the feasibility of each design was analyzed, and the multiple criteria decision analysis method was used to choose the best available option after comprehensively evaluating on safety, economic benefit, environmental impact and construction difficulty. Consequently, this new nuclear power plant design was assessed synthetically and comprehensively.
