Development of Transient Analysis Code for Improved Thermionic Reactor Using Heat Pipe Radiator

  • According to the special structure of improved TOPAZⅡ, a new transient analysis code (TASTIN-HP) coupled with a 2D heat pipe code was developed to analyze its thermal-hydraulic characteristics during steady state, transient events and some typical accidents. The results show that the steady state calculation results are in good agreement with the design values. During the overpower transient and the partial loss of flow accident, in a certain period of time, the temperatures of each layer material and coolant are lower than the safe limits. It is proved that the TASTIN-HP code can be applied in the system safety analysis of space reactor with heat pipe radiator.
