Numerical Simulation Study on Steam Condensation in Presence of Non-condensable Gas

  • The non-condensable gases have an important effect on steam condensation. The condensation mass flow rate and the condensation heat transfer coefficient will decrease dramatically in the presence of non-condensable gases. The steam condensation was simulated by CFD code with the multiphase flow model in this paper. The simulation results were compared with the current experimental data. The results show that the calculation result accuracy by CFD code is good and the multiphase flow model is proved to be useful for the simulation of steam condensation in the presence of non-condensable gas. The influences of several factors such as steam partial pressure and mass fraction of non-condensable gas on heat transfer coefficient were discussed and the distributions of temperature and velocity in the tube were also presented.
