Corrosion Behavior of HR3C in Supercritical Water

  • The uniform corrosion of HR3C in supercritical water (SCW) at 25 MPa was investigated by exposure in circulating autoclave with exposure temperature ranging from 550 ℃ to 650 ℃. SEM, EDS and XRD techniques were employed to characterize the oxide films. The results show that the corrosion rate of HR3C increases with exposure temperature, and the corrosion weight gain at 650 ℃ is as twice as that at 550 ℃. The oxide films formed on the surface of specimens mainly consist of FeCr2O3, Fe3O4 and Fe2O3 with inner layer rich in Cr and outer layer rich in Fe.
