Flow Experimental Study in Scaling Model of Granular Spallation Target

  • The granular spallation target has been raised through theoretical calculation, which is the crucial part of accelerator driven sub-critical system (ADS). It is important to study the flow inside the spallation target before optimizing design. The experiments were carried out in a three-dimensional channel with a screw conveyor as granular drive. The jam-to-dense transition of granular flow was studied with different inclination angles. The variation of flow rate with elevate frequency was further studied. The flow pattern is changed from dilute flow to dense flow with increase of elevate frequency. The stable dense flow exists in main target section.
