Theoretical Design of Multi-facet 3He Detector for Measurement of Uncollimated Neutron Field

  • The detection efficiency of five kinds of symmetric multi-facet detectors for neutrons with various incident angles was calculated by the Geant4 code. The calculation results indicate that the efficiency of the detector with symmetric multi-facet structure shows good consistency for neutrons with different incident directions. The spherical proportional detector attached with six circular semiconductor detectors has the most balanced performance in all aspects, thus has the potential to apply in the spectrum measurement of uncollimated neutron field.
