Resonance Interference Calculation Method for Complex Fuel Composition

  • Resonance interference effect exists widely in reactor systems and has a significant impact on the accuracy of resonance calculations. The resonance interference factor method is not suitable for the complex fuel compositions in the burnup scenario of the practical reactor due to low efficiency. Based on the improved pseudo resonant isotope theory and the ultra-fine group slowing down solver, a method of resonance interference calculation with high efficiency was proposed targeting the fuel in the burnup scenario. Resonance self-shielding calculation analyses were performed on complex fuel compositions in the homogeneous geometry and the pin cell geometry. Results show that the method reaches the accuracy of the rigorous ultra-fine group method and Monte Carlo method. It has advantages over the interference factor method on efficiency and is suitable for rapid resonance calculation for complex compositions of burnup fuel from practical reactors.
