Reactivity Measurement of Solid Spallation Target in Venus-Ⅱ by Period Method

  • In order to verify the calculation codes and nuclear data, the solid spallation target was placed in the target area of Venus-Ⅱ ADS critical experimental assembly, and the reactivity was measured by the period method. The reactivity worth corresponding to the each target material was obtained by comparing the measured periods with and without solid spallation target, and then results were compared with the calculation values. The results show that the experimental results are in good agreement with calculated results, therefore validating correctness of the theoretical calculation. The validated calculation codes and nuclear data can be used in the sub-critical reactor design of the ADS in the future.
