Development of Nuclear Fuel for Space Power Reactor

  • Nuclear fuel is one of the most important materials for space power reactors. Due to its different operation conditions to ground reactors, the types of the nuclear fuel and technical requirements used for space power reactors are obviously different from those of ground reactors. The development of nuclear fuel for space power reactor in the worldwide was reviewed, and the studies of substoichiometry-UO2 pellet, UMo alloy, U-Zr-H alloy and some other nuclear fuels that can be used for space power reactors in our country were also introduced, including some properties achieved. Some proposals for the future nuclear fuel research in China were also given.
