Experimental Study on Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristic of Liquid Lead-bismuth Eutectic in Annular Channel

  • Through the experimental study on flow and heat transfer characteristic of liquid lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) in an annular channel, the influence of gas-injection by gas-lift pump on flow of liquid LBE was obtained and the experimental correlations of friction coefficient and convection heat transfer of liquid LBE were fitted. The results show that gas-injection can significantly increase liquid LBE mass flow rate. The friction coefficient of liquid LBE in annular channel is larger than that calculated by Blasius formula at the same Reynolds number. For the convection heat transfer of liquid LBE, heat conduction in liquid LBE is dominant, and Nusselt number increases with Peclet number.
