Numerical Simulation of Subcooled Flow Boiling Based on OpenFOAM Platform

  • Subcooled flow boiling is widely utilized in industrial production and power plant. Accurate prediction of this phenomenon is an important research field of two phase flow CFD simulation. Eulerian-Eulerian two fluid model and relevant auxiliary models were clarified in this paper. The subcooled flow boiling in a vertical heated tube under 4.5 MPa was simulated based on OpenFOAM platform, the open source platform. The void fraction, fluid average temperature and the wall temperature were obtained. The simulation results agree well with the experimental data, illustrating the validity of the models and the prediction capacity of the code. This paper may provide valuable reference for simulation of subcooled flow boiling based on OpenFOAM platform by adding new models or developing new solvers.
