Technology Research on Engineering and Standardization of Small Medical Cyclotron

  • At present, a small medical cyclotron of 400 μA/14 MeV for PET, CYCIAE-14, was developed in China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). To satisfy the requirement of hospital use lonely and radioisotopes drug distribution center, some engineering and standardization researches on the CYCIAE-14 cyclotron were carried out, such as the ion source and injection line were changed from the top to the bottom of the accelerator for the self-shielding using in the workshop, the cyclotron main coils were changed from dozens of water cooling pipe connections to two paths to improve reliability, all the power supplies used engineering design to reduce the size and get convenient and fast signal control transmission, main vacuum used cryopump to ensure the cleanliness of vacuum chamber, all the cooling water pipes layout was standardized, and the liquid target was large volume and high efficiency structure. Based on the above engineering and standardization technology research, the national standard GB/T 34127—2017 was formulated and promulgated, which will promote the popularization and development of nuclear medicine in China.
