Development of 100 MeV Cyclotron High-power Proton Beam Line

  • A high-power proton beam line and a pluggable high-power beam dump were designed for the high-power beam commissioning for the high-current 100 MeV cyclotron and isotope development. Through the study of dispersion on the extraction region and scattering effect of the stripping foil, the initial parameter of optics simulation was optimized, which made the optics simulation more accurate. A pluggable high-power beam dump was designed to replace the commonly used fixed target. When the beam dump is inserted into the beam, the beam commissioning can be done, and when it is extracted, the proton beam can go through the beam dump to the target to produce isotope. The water-cooling structure of the beam dump was optimized to ensure that the target could withstand proton beam over 500 μA. After commissioning, the beam line can transfer proton beam with the highest current intensity of 520 μA.
