Abstract
The whole process of 2003 proficiency test exercise (PTE2003) organized by the Provisional Technical Secretary of Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was described. The PTE2003 reference spectrum was produced by Monte Carlo simulation based on the monitoring data analysis of a real atmospheric nuclear test. The spectrum consisted of 24 fission products, 5 activation products and 5 nature radionuclides. Total 27 out of 34 radionuclides were identified by Beijing Radionuclide Laboratory, and the activities are in agreement with the reference values. The zero time determined by the 95Nb and 95Zr activity ratio is very close to the reference value, and the deviation is only 0.26 d. According to analysis results of the reference spectrum, it was pointed out that the fission products should be generated mainly through 238U and 239Pu fission and the reference spectrum should be original from the real nuclear test monitoring data.
