PREPARATION OF RARE EARTH TARGETS WITH MOLECULAR PLATING

  • 摘要: <正> 近年来,核物理工作者对希土元素的研究越来越多。由于镧系元素属于活泼金属,有的元素熔点高,希土同位素都以氧化物形式提供,所以希土靶特别是希土同位素靶的制备是比较困难的。虽然真空蒸发、滚轧、重离子溅射、电喷涂和离心沉淀法等技术都能用来制备希土靶,但这些方法各自有一定的缺点,每种方法只能满足某些实验的要求。分子电

     

    Abstract: A method for preparing uniform rare earth targets is described. Targets of La, Ce, Sm, Yb, Eu, ~(158)Gd and ~(160)Dy with thicknesses of 0.1 to 2.0mg/cm~2 were prepared on substrates of aluminum and stainless steel by electrodeposition from a solution of their nitrates in isopropyl alcohol. The deposition yield was investigated as a fuction of several parameters such as duration of the deposition, cathode to anode distance and current density. Targets of good adhesion with a thickness of more than 0.5mg/cm~2 were obtained by repeating electrodeposition of layers and heating the foils at 500℃.
