Abstract: The paper describes the solidification of tritium-bearing liquid waste with cement. The optimum formulation of cement form is found to be water-cement ratio=0.45～0.50 and cement=gypsum ratio=5. Leaching tests are made with the methods recommended by IAEA. In order to reduce the amount of tritum released from cement form, several packaging methods have been developed. The coating of the specimen surface with bitumen can reduce the leachability of tritium by 1—2 order of magnitude as compared with that of the specimen without coating.
