Abstract:
The design, construction, inspection and operating experience of storage tanks for high-levelliquid radioactive waste has been reviewed. The general considers for design of the strorage tankinclude tanks, cells, cooling system, instrumentation, liquid transfer, ventilation, agitation andcorrosion consideration are described, and a typical design is demonstrated. According to USAand UK standard specifications, the constructions of the storage tanks are quanlity--controlled. Onbasis of operating experiences for more than twenty years, the stainless-steel tanks have beenproved reliable and safe.
