Abstract: Recent progresses in thermodynamic study on the coordination of calixcrowns to alkali metal ions are introduced in the paper. The relationship between the selectivity of calixcrowns towards alkali metal ions and thermodynamic parameters is systemically analyzed, and some general rules are drawn. 
