Abstract:
The deuterium absorption behavior of titanium and titanium with oxide layer in a constant volume system was investigated in the temperature range of 475 to 680 ℃. A method of the reaction rate analysis was used and examined for determining the rate constant. The activation energy values obtained by this analysis for absorption of titanium and titanium oxided for 2 and 5 h at the temperature of 400 ℃ are (112±2),(181±4) and (115±3) kJ/mol, respectively. Thicker the surface oxide layer of titanim is, (larger) the activation energy values are. The experimented results prove the oxide layer has the property of blocking deuterium.
