Abstract:
The solidification of simulated spent radioactive resins is investigated using ASC cement and zeolite blends. The compress strengths and leaching rates of the solidified objects with various added amount of zeolite were compared. The microstructures of the matrix were investigated by SEM in order to explain the effect of zeolite amount on the performance of solidified object. The experimental results indicate that the addition of zeolite causes a structural shift of solidified object form pinhead crystal to layer crystal, and addition of 10%-20% zeolite can decrease the leaching rate of Cs greatly, however, it had little influence on the compress strengths.
